Disclosed are a method and system for automatically generating a film head or film tail for a camera. The method comprises: configuring film head information or film tail information, and continuing time that the film head information is in a shot video or continuing time that the film tail information is in a shot video, which are needed to be displayed in the shot video of the camera; automatically generating a corresponding film head video frame picture or film tail video frame picture according to the film head information or film tail information; and automatically adding the film head video frame picture or film tail video frame picture to the shot video according to the continuing time. By the above manner, a film head or film tail could be generated according to the configuration of a user while recording a video in the present invention.
