Disclosed are a method for cloaking acoustic waves using scattering media having a spatial periodicity, and an apparatus for the same. The method for cloaking acoustic waves according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: deriving target characteristics of a meta-material on the basis of a relationship between an acoustic wave transmission mathematical model predetermined for an acoustic wave transmission and an electromagnetic wave mathematical model predetermined for electromagnetic waves; arranging scattering media having a predetermined medium density such that the scattering media have a spatial periodicity so as to have derived target characteristics; and disposing the meta-material including the scattering media arranged to have the spatial periodicity such that the meta-material encloses a region including a target object, thereby shielding the region from acoustic waves.
