This speech dialog device (1) is provided with: a response statement generation unit (12) that generates a response statement in accordance with the contents of an utterance of a user; an output control unit (15) that outputs the generated response statement; and a response start/end notification processing unit (14) that, during the time from the end of a user utterance until the start of output (response start) by the output control unit (15), notifies the user that output by the output control unit (15) will start.
