A thermodynamic method for reducing the aerodynamic drag of a moving automotive vehicle, which includes the adiabatic compression and adiabatic expansion of an incident airflow. An incident airflow is compressed in a converging front portion of an air duct (1) with or without the aid of a supercharger (3). For the purpose of increased efficiency, this system for compressing and expanding an incident airflow is integrated with the engine exhaust system. Compressed and heated air is expanded in a diverging rear portion of the air duct (1) and released into the atmosphere.
