Disclosed are a method for dividing work in a stack system, a master device, a slave device, and a system. The method comprises: when a master device detects that the load of the master device is higher than a preset high load threshold, the master device sends a corresponding management message to a slave device according to a preset work division policy used for indicating that the slave device executes a management function on which management messages; and the slave device executes the management function according to the received management message, generates, according to the management result obtained in execution, a policy message used for setting a processing policy, and sends the policy message to a device generating the management message.
