The invention relates to a wind energy system for an offshore wind park (20). The wind energy system comprises a wind energy arrangement (21) with a generator (22) for generating electric energy from wind and a superconducting transformer (28) for transforming the voltage of the generator (22) into a high voltage in order to provide the generated electric energy, preferably to transmit the generated electric energy, to an onshore network (1). By using a superconducting transformer that transforms the low generator voltage, which preferably lies at 690 V in a range from 690 V to 4 kV or even 8 kV, for example, directly into a high voltage in order to provide the generated electric energy, preferably to transmit the electric energy, to an onshore network, a separate offshore transformer platform can optionally be omitted, thus leading to a substantial reduction in cost and reducing the installation complexity.
