A method and authentication device for unlocking administrative rights relate to the technical field computer information security. The method comprises: an authentication device receiving authentication information transmitted by a plurality of member devices, wherein the member devices comprise a mobile terminal or a wearable device (101); carrying out matching authentication for the authentication information (102); detecting the distance from an authenticated member device to the authentication device, wherein the authenticated member device is a member device with the transmitted authentication information matching the authentication information pre-stored in a rights authentication information list (103); and unlocking local administrative rights when the number of the authenticated member devices, of which the detected distance to the authentication device is less than a preset distance threshold value, reaches a preset number threshold value (104). By adopting the method, the processing flexibility for unlocking administrative rights can be improved.
