The present invention relates to the field of computers. Provided in an embodiment of the present invention are a high availability solution method and device for a database, the method comprising: converting an LVS IP address to an IP address of a corresponding database after receiving the LVS IP address transmitted from a client such that a corresponding database driver can search a connection corresponding to the IP address according to the converted IP address of the corresponding database so as to reuse the connection, thus addressing the problem that when the LVS is used in conjunction with the corresponding database, a new connection needs to be established because the database driver cannot search the connection corresponding to the LVS IP address, further effectively reducing performance overhead generated when the client accesses the database, avoiding the problem that when a large number of concurrent requests exist for the corresponding database, service cannot be provided because all service connections are occupied.
