A waterproof fastener chain comprising: a pair of polyester resin fastener tapes (18) each with one side edge adjacent one side edge of the other across a predetermined spacing (s); a row of elements (11) that is fixed onto a main surface of the one side edge of each of the fastener tapes (18); and a polyester resin waterproof coating (19) that is formed on a main surface of each of the fastener tapes (18) opposite the main surface onto which the row of elements (11) is fixed. The outer surface of the waterproof coating (19) is flat at least in the portion over which a slider 12 is intended to pass through. The waterproof coating (19) penetrates into irregularities of the main surface of the fastener tape (18) at the interface with the fastener tape (18). The depth of penetration (d) of the waterproof coating (19) into a gap (20) created by the spacing (s) of the pair of fastener tapes (18) is equal to or less than the thickness of the fastener tape (18). Edges of each of the waterproof coatings (19) extend toward each other from the one side edge of each of the fastener tapes (18) to abut each other.
