A method for designing a third harmonic excitation winding of a salient-pole synchronous generator comprises the following steps: combining two monopole-pair slot-number phase diagrams and drawing same together by means of a two-pole-pair slot-number phase diagram method, the horizontal direction representing the slot-number phase diagram of one number of pole-pairs, and the vertical direction representing the slot-number phase diagram of a same number of slots having a different number of pole-pairs; and selecting a slot number and coil pitch for the stator winding of a salient-pole synchronous generator according to the two-pole-pair slot-number phase diagram. The present design method provides a simple structure and lower copper consumption.
