The method comprises: after an application starts, displaying, by a client terminal, a plug-in management interface; acquiring installable plug-in information of the smart gateway; invoking a installed plug-in list interface on the smart gateway, and acquiring installed plug-in information of the smart gateway; and displaying installable plug-in information of the smart gateway and the installed plug-in information in the plug-in management interface. The present invention enables a common household user of the smart gateway to centrally manage functional plug-ins while separated from a carrier network and platform and without being limited by the platform, thereby improving the flexibility of the management of smart gateway functional plug-ins.
