The invention relates to an advantageous nine-speed automatic planetary transmission (1) which requires no range shifting and from which a six-speed automatic transmission can be derived by reducing the number of shifting elements and eliminating one planetary gear set. The disclosed nine-speed automatic transmission comprises four planetary gear sets, an input shaft (14), an output shaft (15) and seven shifting elements (A, B, C, D, E, F, G).
