The present invention relates to formulations containing ultra-deformable drug-free particles and their use in treating soft-tissue soreness, such as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and exercise-induced muscle soreness. The formulations of the invention comprise a non-ionic surfactant and/or a phospholipid and are free of any pharmaceutically active agent.
