A thermoplastic golf ball material, comprising: (a) an unneutralized copolymer of ethylene and at least one of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, having from about 5 to about 12 weight percent acid monomer; (b) metallocene-catalyzed copolymers of ethylene and octene; (c) unsaturated fatty acids; And (d) combining and reacting metal cations in an amount sufficient to neutralize about 65 to about 90% of the acid groups. The ionomeric thermoplastic material may be used in a core, cover or layer between the core and the cover of a golf ball.
