The present invention relates to a device and a method for determining a synchronization and spectrum sensing period in a distributed cognition radio network. According to the present invention, the device includes: a channel status determining unit which senses the status of a corresponding channel for a preset period to determine the channel status based on the sensing execution resu a parameter updating unit which updates a preset parameter according to the determination resu and a sensing period determining unit which determines the sensing period for a corresponding cycle based on a preset parameter being updated.
