The present invention relates to a method for applying an electric field to a combuster with an axial swirler, and more specifically, to a method for applying an electric field to a combuster comprising: a premixing chamber (410); a hub (440) arranged in an interior of the premixing chamber (410); and a voltage applying device (500) electrically connected to the hub (440) to apply a high voltage to the hub (440) by the voltage applying device (500). The method for applying an electric field comprises: (S10) a step of adjusting the outer diameter (dsw) of the swirler to allow the swirler to be formed on the outer circumference of the hub (440) and allowing the inner wall of the premixing chamber (410) and wing of the swirler (450) to be spaced from each other; and (S20) a step of compensating for the rotation strength (S) when the outer diameter (dsw) of the swirler determined in the adjusting step (S10) reduces the rotation strength (S). According to the present invention, the separation distance (d) of the swing of the swirler is increased, thereby restricting discharge caused by applying a high voltage.
