The present invention relates to a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) solvent and a method for recovering a PVB adhesive film by using the same. According to the present invention, the PVB solvent includes; beta-myrcene; cyclohexene having 3-methyl-6-(1-methylethenyl); and a hexanoic acid having 2-propenyl ester. The PVB solvent is made of ingredients extracted from Citrus unshiu to be eco-friendly while not harming workers. The method includes a step of immersing a PVB adhesive film to be recycled in the solvent to completely decompose PVB. The processed substance has low viscosity and does not include grains to be easily filtered in order to easily remove foreign matters such as glass fragments through a filter net. The method does not require a special facility, knowledge, or additional energy from the outside and is capable of easily recovering pure PVB by adding water to the PVB solution.
