A BALLAST WATER MANAGERMENT SYSTEM HAVING TANK CLEANING FUNTION AND A METHOD TO MANAGE BALLAST WATER USING IT

The present invention relates to a ballast water treatment system including a tank cleaning function and a ballast water treatment method using the same. Specifically, the ballast water treatment system includes: a ballast water treatment unit removing foreign substances included in ballast water or sterilizing microorganism; a bypass unit enabling the ballast water to bypass and pass through the ballast water treatment unit; a ballast water storing unit storing the ballast water passing through the ballast water treatment unit or the bypass unit and drawing the ballast water to a front end of the bypass unit and the ballast water treatment unit; and a control unit controlling the operation of the ballast water treatment unit, the bypass unit, and the ballast water storing unit. In case the untreated ballast water bypassing the ballast water treatment unit by the bypass unit is stored in the ballast water storing unit, the untreated ballast water is drawn to a pipe at the front end of the bypass unit and the ballast water treatment unit and passes through the ballast water treatment unit to remove the foreign substances and sterilize the microorganism. Therefore, the treated ballast water is stored in the tank after the process and circulates in a device without inflow or outflow of the ballast water from or to the outside. So, the ballast water treatment system including the tank cleaning function can treat the ballast water.
