According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for preparing porridge uses the electric pressure cooker which includes an inner pot storing ingredients for the porridge and water corresponding to the amount of the ingredients therein; and a lid including a steam outlet being opened and closed according to a control operation, and covering the upper part of the inner pot. The method includes: a heating step of heating the inner pot storing the ingredients and the water while the steam outlet is closed in order to raise the temperature of the inner pot; a delay step of maintaining the temperature of the inner pot within a predetermined temperature; and a settling step of stopping the operation of heating the inner pot and opening the steam outlet when the temperature of the inner pot drops below a predetermined discharging temperature in order to discharge the steam generated in the inner pot. Accordingly, the method of the present invention overcomes problems related to boiling out or scattering of contents in the electric pressure.
