The present invention relates to a method for discriminating Cervus nippon hortulorum which uses a genetic testing of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis technique to discriminate an original breed of Cervus nippon hortulorum from major deer species and subspecies like Formosan deer. More specifically, the present invention provides a genetic testing capable of discriminating the original breed of Cervus nippon hortulorum from samples of various deer species and subspecies like Formosan deer accurately by using the PCR-RFLP analysis technique which uses an Hpy8 I restriction enzyme on the target area of specific single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) indicating an mtDNA D-loop region with DNA sequential difference between deer species and subspecies like Formosan deer.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
