The present invention relates to a propulsion device of a liquefied natural gas carrier enabling a dual fuel oil electric generator to be operated in a gas mode even when fast acceleration and fast deceleration are necessary. According to one embodiment of the present invention, provided is the propulsion device of a liquefied natural gas carrier, comprising: the dual fuel oil electric generator which uses a gas as a fuel in the gas mode and uses oil as the fuel in an oil mode; a variable frequency converter which receives power from the dual fuel oil electric generator to supply the power to a main propulsion motor; the main propulsion motor which is connected to the variable frequency converter to receive the power from the variable frequency converter to rotate a propeller; and a resistance unit which is connected to the variable frequency converter to consume the power when there is leftover power generated by the dual fuel oil electric generator.
