The present invention relates to a method to detect a defect position of a plate structure. The present invention provides a method to detect the defect position capable of detecting a defect position in high accuracy. The method comprises: a step of attaching a plurality of AE sensors to the plate structure which is an object to be measured; a step of detecting an elastic wave generated due to a defect of the plate structure by the AE sensors; a step of generating a property vector which has a time difference in which the AE sensors detect the elastic wave, as a property value; and a step of detecting the defect position on the plate structure from a pattern recognition model learned in advance using the property vector and an LS-SVM algorithm.
