The present invention relates to an animal model with diabetes, a method for screening a diabetes treating agent using the model, and a method for analyzing an effect of the diabetes treating agent. The animal model has various glycometabolism abnormalities such as increase in diabetes-relating components in blood, increase in glucose level in blood, degradation of insulin resistance, increase in the amount of triglyceride in liver, increase in serum ALT/AST, increase in fatty liver accumulation, increase in inflammation and the like, and is proper to understand a process of progression from obesity to diabetes, and to screen a diabetes treating agent. The animal model of the present invention is effectively used in research of progression from obesity to diabetes, and development of a treating agent against diabetes relating to obesity and inflammation. The method for screening a diabetes treating agent comprises the following steps: (a) administrating a test material to an animal except for a human, having Atg7+/--ob/ob trait; and (b) measuring hematologic or histological index having relation with diabetes or glycometabolism abnormalities. If the test material effectively changes the hematologic or histological index to be normal, the test material is determined as a diabetes treating agent.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
