The present invention relates to a high-voltage power supply (a switching mode high-voltage power supply) and a method for stabilization of an output high voltage thereof, which are capable of minimizing a variation in cathode voltage by rapidly compensating for a cathode voltage even when a traveling wave tube is subjected to a rapid load variation and thus the cathode voltage decreases or increases. A high-voltage power supply which supplies a voltage to a traveling wave tube according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise: a PWM controller which generates a pulse width modulation (PWM) pulse for generation of a high voltage; a pulse transformer which transfers an isolated switching pulse by using the generated pulse; a pulse amplifier which amplifies and converts the switching pulse; a high-voltage transformer which boosts the amplified pulse to a high-voltage pulse; a high-voltage rectifier unit which rectifies the high-voltage pulse; a high-voltage smoothing unit which smoothes the rectified high voltage into a DC cathode voltage; a high-voltage stabilization unit which stabilizes the smoothed cathode voltage by controlling the same; and an error amplifier which generates a voltage for varying a pulse width of the PWM controller in accordance with a control voltage of the high-voltage stabilization unit.
