An aircraft includes a fuselage and at least one aerodynamic interface surface. The aircraft includes a gimbaled mirror system which is supported by a gimbal, receives a light beam from a light emitting source, and further includes a mirror to reflect the received light beam onto a first periscope fold mirror. A wavefront measurement system includes at least five reflective mirrors which reflect a light beam onto a high-speed steering mirror. The high-speed steering mirror directly reflects the light beam into a beam splitter, which divides the light beam into a transmitted portion and a reflected portion.
