According to the present invention, an expansion joint for preventing water leakage in a connection portion of a structure comprises: a main body having both side walls vertically arranged and an upper face, whose interior is formed in a hollow shape; a cover which closes a lower face of the main body, whose both ends protrude relative to the side walls of the main body, whose thickness becomes thinner towards the protruding ends thereof, and wherein protruding portions thereof are affixed to a surface of a structure; through holes formed on the upper face of the main body at equal intervals; a key formed on an outer face of both side walls of the main body in a longitudinal direction and inclined to a prescribed angle; an expansion control unit formed on the upper face of the main body in the longitudinal direction, whose middle portion protrudes upwards; and a water-expansion water stopper detachably mounted on the upper ends of both side walls of the main body.
