The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling the soft start of a dual active bridge (DAB) converter. A method for controlling the drive of a DAB converter including a first power circuit having a first bridge switching device, a second power circuit having a second bridge switching device, and a transformer turns on/off the first bridge switching device and the second bridge switching device repeatedly using open-loop duty control to increase duty from 0 to a reference value, and gradually increases a phase difference between the first and second bridge switching devices using open-loop phase shifting control, and converges an actual output voltage into a target voltage using closed-loop phase shifting control.
