The present invention relates to an algorithmic analog-to-digital converter for scaling a conversion time and a conversion method using the same. The algorithmic analog-to-digital converter comprises: a flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which converts an analog signal selected from an input signal into a digital signal; and a multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC) which converts the digital signal output by the flash ADC into an analog signal, and generates a residual voltage by amplifying a difference between the input signal and the latter analog signal. An output signal is generated by repeating a cycle, in which the residual voltage is generated by the MDAC, a predetermined number of times, and conversion time and a size of a capacitor used for the conversion are simultaneously made to decrease gradually according to the number of repetitions of the cycle.
