An embodiment of the present invention relates to a welding fault inspecting method and a device therefor. A welding fault sensing device for detecting a faulty welding in a partial penetration groove T-joint welding, which couples a cross-section, on which a groove of a second mother material is formed, with one side of a first mother material, according to an embodiment of the present invention, can comprise: a probe which generates an ultrasound and detects a diffraction wave which is reflected from a portion at which penetration of a bottom of the groove is stopped; a distance sensor which measures a distance to the first mother material; and a control unit which acquires a thickness of the second mother material and a speed of the diffraction wave in the second mother material, and detects a faulty welding by using the thickness of the second mother material, the distance, an arrival time of the diffraction wave, and a speed of the diffraction wave in the second mother material. According to an embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to detect a faulty welded portion simply and accurately.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
