APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING COBB ANGLE

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method to measure a Cobb angle capable of automatically measuring a Cobb angle to diagnose scoliosis by using an x-ray photographing apparatus and an auxiliary apparatus for taking x-ray having a grid. The apparatus to measure a Cobb angle comprises: a setting unit to set the X-ray image of a patient as an image which is necessary to diagnose the scoliosis; a backbone outline extracting unit to extract the outline of the backbone in the set image to detect a direct line of a backbone plate; and a Cobb angle measuring unit to measure an angle between all direct lines of the backbone plate and to measure the maximum angle among the angle between the all lines as a Cobb angle. According to the present invention, the apparatus can automatically measure the Cobb angle and can more accurately diagnose the scoliosis.
