An embodiment of the present invention discloses a method of detecting an edge of an input image using a variable two-dimensional (2D) band-elimination filter, and a variable 2D band-elimination filter. The variable 2D band-elimination filter comprises: a first sub filter unit in which a first low frequency filter and a first high frequency filter are interconnected; and a second sub filter unit in which a second high frequency filter and a second low frequency filter are interconnected.
