A camera system has been disclosed that may include a motion sensor, an image sensor, a user interface, a memory and at least a motion sensor and a processor in communication with the user interface in accordance with some embodiments described herein. Such a processor enters a hibernation state; Receiving motion data from a motion sensor; Determine whether the motion data represents motion of the camera system; Enters a sleep state when motion is determined from motion data; Receive user input from a user interface while in a sleep state; The image sensor of the camera system may be configured to enter an active state to power on and to sample the images actively.
