A method of screening for a therapeutic agent for a degenerative neurological disease that reduces the accumulation of stress granules in a fused in sarcoma mutant, comprising: (a) expressing a FUS mutant protein in a cell; (b) treating the cell with an oxidative stressor; (c) contacting the test substance with the cell; (d) selecting a substance that reduces FUS positive stress granule accumulation as a therapeutic agent for degenerative neurological diseases as compared to a control group in which the test substance is not treated.
