The present invention relates to a permanent magnet type synchronous motor and is intended to increase the magnetic flux amount by adding a lateral gap to the longitudinal gap while minimizing an increase in the volume and material cost of the electric motor. A permanent magnet synchronous motor according to the present invention includes a tubular stator, a rotor, and a pair of housing end caps. The stator has a rotor mounting hole formed at a center portion thereof, and an armature winding is formed on a plurality of teeth formed along the inner circumferential surface. The rotor has a plurality of permanent magnets which are provided in the rotor mounting holes of the stator and form a longitudinal gap between the stator and the magnetic flux concentration type.
