In the present invention, disclosed is a residual heat removal system for cooling nuclear power plant facilities to remove residual heat of a reactor core (11) disposed in a nuclear reactor vessel (10), comprising: a first heat pipe (110) which is disposed at the upper portion of the nuclear reactor vessel (10) and is disposed vertically to correspond to the position of an insertion hole formed at the upper end of the nuclear reactor vessel (10); a lifting driving unit (120) which is coupled to the upper portion of the first heat pipe (110) and drives the first heat pipe (110) up and down to selectively insert the first heat pipe (110) to a control rod insertion hole (12) of the reactor core (11) disposed in the nuclear reactor vessel (10); and a second heat pipe (130) which is coupled to come in close contact with the lower face of the nuclear reactor vessel (10) and absorbs and cools residual heat generated in the reactor core (11).
