The present invention relates to a composition for removing heavy metals comprising, as an active ingredient, a complex extract of Saururus chinensis, Rhynchosia nulubilis, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Taraxacum platycarpum, and Ulmus macrocarpa having heavy metal removal and detoxication effects. The novel composition of the present invention has excellent effects of removing and detoxifying heavy metals, thereby being able to be used for preventing, improving, or treating diseases caused by heavy metals absorbed and accumulated in a human body resulting from the increase of atmospheric environmental pollution. In addition, the composition of the present invention: can be easily prepared from available plants; is harmless to a human body; and has almost no side effect even when being taken in large quantities, thereby being able to be variously applied in a functional food field.
