The present invention relates to an apparatus to cool sintered ore used as a raw material to manufacture steel, and a cooling method thereof. The present invention is to provide the apparatus and the method to cool the sintered ore, which improves sintered ore cooling efficiency through local air volume control and ventilation control. According to one aspect of the present invention, provided are the apparatus to cool the sintered ore, comprising: more than two temperature measurement units to measure sintered ore temperature at more than two spots in a width direction of the sintered ore by being stacked on a trolley; an air volume control unit configured to control air volume to supply more air to a spot with a higher temperature measured by the temperature measurement unit than a spot with a lower temperature by controlling the volume of wind transferred through a wind transfer path; and a ventilation control unit which adjusts ventilation of the sintered ore by forming more than one valley in a transfer direction of the sintered ore, in the high temperature sintered ore stacked on the trolley on a front of the air volume control unit, as seen in a transfer direction of the sintered ore, and the sintered ore cooling method using the same. According to the present invention, the apparatus to cool the sintered ore is able to prevent a facility from degradation of a belt by being able to improve a cooling efficiency of the sintered ore, and has also the effect of being able to improve a quality of the sintered ore as it is not necessary to perform water cooling.
