The present invention relates to a target classification apparatus and a target classification method, which calculate reliability of a target segmentation method and accurately classify a target. The target classification apparatus includes: an input unit which receives an image of the target by using infrared rays; an image processing unit which classifies the image into a target area and a background area based on a preset image processing method, and calculates reliability of the classification of the target area and the background area; and an output unit which visually outputs the image classified into the target area and the background area and the reliability.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
