The present invention provides a wastewater treatment apparatus and a wastewater treatment method using a vertical-type microbial fuel cell having algae-reducing electrodes outside the oxidation electrode. The present invention is efficient in terms of space utilization, can easily maximize the production of electric power by easily enlarging the capacity and surface area and generating oxygen at a high concentration, and exhibits an effect for long-term operation. In addition, since the aeration process is not required, the operation cost can be reduced, and algae grown in the algae reduction reaction tank can be recovered and used for production of methane or useful bioenergy production.
