A method for automatically controlling a pumping station (2) in a fluid circulation system (1) made with one or more flow control valves (3), comprising the following preliminary operation: (a) preliminary determination of the set of driving curves (C1, ..., Cn ), determining the relationship between the pressure and flow rate of the pumping station (3); and the following cyclically repeated adaptive control operations: (b) control of the specified pump station (2) according to the set curve (Ci), selected from a number of predetermined curves (C1, ..., Cn); (c) tracking over time the change in flow rate (ΔQ) of the fluid circulating within the system (1) in the pump station (2), or the parameter associated with it; (d) carried out during tracking operations (c) checking whether the flow rate change (ΔQ) exceeds or falls below the control threshold value and whether the state indicated during the stabilization time (Ts) is maintained with the detection of a state (S +) with an increased flow rate or state ( S-) with reduced flow, respectively; (e) if detected during this last operation (d) of checking the state (S +) with an increased flow rate or the state (S-) with a reduced flow rate, modifying the set driving curve by replacing it with another curve from the set of driving curves (C1, ..., Cn); (f) after performing operation (e) modification of the set reference curve (Ci), re-initialization of the operation (c) of tracking, starting from the new operating point reached by the pumping station (2) .2.
