Composition of aqueous drilling fluid comprising: i) a continuous aqueous phase; ii) a reactive clay or shale materialiiii) shale hydration inhibitor having formuluv which represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbons, R is an alkyl group having from 1 to 18 carbons, their is an anion, in which the shale hydration inhibitor is present in sufficient concentration to reduce the reactivity of the clay or slantsa.2. Composition according to claim 1 in which:. R is methyl, R is an alkyl group containing 1, 4, 8 or 12 carbons, their represents hlorid.3. . The composition of claim 1 wherein the shale hydration inhibitor is a chloride, 2,3-digidroksipropilbutildimetilammoniya; chloride 2,3-digidroksipropilpentildimetilammoniya; chloride 2,3-digidroksipropilgeksildimetilammoniya; chloride 2,3-digidroksipropilgeptildimetilammoniya; chloride 2,3-digidroksipropiloktildimetilammoniya; chloride 2,3-digidroksipropildodetsildimetilammoniya; and 2,3-digidroksipropiltrimetilammoniya.4 chloride. Composition according to Claim. 1 further comprising one or more components of the fluid loss control, weighting agent, thickener, dispersant, lubricant, corrosion inhibitor, defoaming agent or surfactant veschestva.5. Composition according to Claim. 1, wherein the continuous aqueous phase is fresh water, sea water, brine, mixtures of water and water soluble organic compounds or smesi.6. A method for reducing the reactivity of clay and shale into the drilling operations, in which an aqueous drilling fluid comprising a shale hydration inhibitor having the following formula:
