At short-time storage the collected material shall be stored in a polyethylene bag on the lower shelf of the refrigerator, and for long-time storage the material can be fixed in 60% solution of ethyl alcohol or herborised. With that, leaves are taken from at least 10 specified birch trees growing under the same ecological conditions of a growth place and uniformly distributed along the birch forest. On each of the specified birches there marked are shortened shoots in four cardinal directions; several sample leaves are taken from each shoot, and two parameters are measured from each leaf on the right and left sides of the leaf: width of halves of the leaf and length of the rib of the second order, which is the second one from the leaf base.;EFFECT: invention provides accurate indication of quality of local environment surrounding birch leaves, as well as simplification and improvement of measurement efficiency of parameters of leaves.;2 cl, 15 dwg, 6 tbl, 2 ex
