FIELD: agriculture.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to poultry processing industry, specifically to a method for poultry plucking. Method involves use of a drive mechanism for rotation multiple plucking heads of a plucking unit and to said plucking unit. Each plucking head is mounted on outer side of closing element on an axis passing through a hole in closing element and supported by bearing. Drive mechanism is mounted on inner side of closing element opposite plucking heads. For protection of drive mechanism from damage, gas or air is directed through inlet channel onto inner side of closing element and then to drive mechanism. Gas or air has lower relative humidity than air surrounding plucking head, during operation of device, thus blowing any moisture falling in plucking unit.;EFFECT: to further reduce water ingress, preferably, so that gas or air causes excess pressure on inner side of closing element, which is preferably always higher than that on outer side.;15 cl, 3 dwg
