Method involves electrodeposition of nickel-based composite coating and nano-sized zirconium dioxide from electrolyte containing salts of nickel and zirconium dioxide particles, nickel acetate tetrahydrate in amount of 60-90 g/l and nickel chloride hexahydrate in amount of 7-15 g/l at pH 4.3-4.7 are used as nickel salts added with zirconium dioxide Sol containing muriatic acid 1.3-1.7 mol/l and zirconium dioxide particles with size of 2-6 nm and concentration of 15-18 g/l in an amount of 6-56 ml/l, wherein the electrodeposition process is carried out at temperature of electrolyte 45-55 °C and current density of 2-12 A/dm2.;EFFECT: technical result is obtaining nickel-based coatings free of pitting corrosion with high values of microhardness, providing high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, in particular, in chloride media.;1 cl, 3 ex
