A method for automatically releasing a parking brake of a motor vehicle, in which– as a function of a clutch actuation of the driver is a clutch time size (s_s/v_k) it is determined which represents the time elapses until the clutch is fully,– a release time size (t_L) it is determined which represents the time the parking brake for the automatic dissolution process is needed and– the release point of the parking brake (t_A) as a function of the release time size and of the coupling time magnitude is determined.
