An ultrasonic transducer, wherein a plurality of piezoelectric elements (1), each being a stacked body, are alternately stacked at predetermined numbers of piezoelectric layers (2) and electrode layers (3) and, although having two sides, along the stacking direction are flat, side electrodes (6) for connecting the predetermined electrode layers (3) are respectively disposed outside the two sides, are arranged perpendicular to the stacking direction and wherein a spacer (10) is arranged with a predetermined thickness between the sides on which the side electrodes ( 6) of mutually adjacent piezoelectric elements (1) are formed, wherein a height (T2) of the spacer (10) in the stacking direction is less than a height (T1) of the side of the piezoelectric element (1).
