The disclosed embodiments include a method, apparatus, and computer program product for approximating multiphase flow in a reservoir production simulation. For example, one disclosed embodiment includes a system including at least one processor and memory coupled to the at least one processor, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, perform operations that involve creating a set of curves obtained relative permeability of the pseudo-phase promotion; obtaining delivery rate history data; obtaining simulation configuration parameters; performing a flow simulation using the set of relative permeability curves of the pseudo-phase promotion; determining an optimal matching pseudo-phase feed simulation result that best matches the feed rate history data; and performing a relative permeability reversal using signal processing analysis of delivery rate history data to approximate relative permeability curve descriptions with a quantified uncertainty.
