The invention relates to a method (200) for setting the detection of a macropixel signal (S) of an X-ray detector having a plurality of pixels (4) which are combined to form at least one macropixel and respectively detect individual signals (si). In the method (200), the geometric efficiency (ei) and the signal drift factor (di) of the individual pixels (4) are first determined. Furthermore, a target gain value (t) is determined. Furthermore, a parameter (λ) which sets a compromise of an allowable drift of the macropixel signals S and the achievable dose efficiency is also set. On the basis of the determined parameters, the weighting (wi) of the individual pixel signals is determined taking into account a function (f (wi)) taking into account both the signal drift and the dose utilization of the resulting macropixel signal as a function of the weightings (wi) of the pixel signals (si). Finally, a weighted addition of the individual pixel signals (si) to macropixel signals (S) is determined on the basis of the determined weights (wi). A method is also described for detecting a macropixel signal (S) of an X-ray detector having a plurality of pixels (4), which are each combined to form at least one macropixel and respectively detect individual signals (si). In addition, a signal detection device (30) for detecting a macropixel signal (S) of an X-ray detector (40) with a plurality of pixels (4), which are each combined to form at least one macropixel and respectively detect individual signals (si), is illustrated. Further, an X-ray detector (40) will be described. Finally, a computed tomography system (50) will also be described.
