A computer-implemented method (1) for the computer-aided generation of an executable control program (3) for controlling a control system (4) with an electronic computer unit (5) is described and illustrated, wherein the functionality of the control program (3) is at least partially represented in a graphical model (6 ) and the graphic model (6, R) comprises at least one submodel (7, V) having at least one subfunctionality, the graphical model (6, R) being first translated into model code (8) in a high level programming language and the model code (8) is subsequently compiled into the control program (3) executable on the control system (4). The manageability of submodel functions of submodels within a graphical model is improved by translating the submodel (7, V) into a submodel code function (v) in the high-level programming language, such that the model (6, R) is transformed into a generic model code (8). is translated in the higher-level programming language and that the sub-model code function (v) is called from the overlapping model code (8) by means of a pointer to the sub-model code function (v).
