Control of fuel injectors for multiple injections

A method is described for driving a solenoid actuator having a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The fuel injector has a first port and a second port, wherein the first port is connectable via a switching element to ground / ground and wherein the second port is connected to earth / ground. The method comprises: (a) driving the switching element to connect the first terminal to earth / ground, (b) detecting a time history of the current of a current flowing through the solenoid drive, and (c) applying a voltage pulse to the solenoid drive, to initiate an opening process of the fuel injector, wherein a duration of the voltage pulse is determined in dependence on the detected time course of the current. Furthermore, a motor control and a computer program are described.
